Strength tests

Find where you stand.

Logic Workout's strength tests score every movement on one ladder — Injury Risk, Healthy, Strong, Athlete, Legend — against standards set for your gender. Your results colour a body map muscle by muscle, chart your progress over time, and point you to the workouts that close the gap.

Tests are part of Premium — free for 14 days

The ladder

One ladder for every movement

A sprint, a deadlift, a Logic Workout exercise: every result lands on the same five bands. Warm colours are a warning, cool ones are earned. Men and women are scored on their own standards, set movement by movement — the plank asks the same of everyone, the pull-up does not.

  1. Injury Risk

Attempted, but short of the first target.

  2. Healthy

The first target: the strength to keep your health.

  3. Strong

Solidly trained. The bar the Logic Standard sets.

  4. Athlete

The top published target. The bar for the Logic Athlete and the Carryover.

  5. Legend

    Clearly past the top target.

The targeted tests — the Logic Carryover, NFL Combine, Army Fitness Test, Logic Standard and Logic Athlete — also mark each target Failed, Pass or Aced, and count how many you have cleared. Scores depend on gender, not age.

Body map

See it on your body

Front and back, male and female, from neck to feet. Grey marks the muscles a test works. Log a result and each one takes its band colour — left and right separately when they differ — so the weak link has nowhere to hide.

The map sits on the Progress tab, on every test, and on every exercise.

The Logic Carryover

What bodyweight training should buy you

Our own claim, put where you can check it: gym and track goals after 12 months of Logic Workout at two hours a week, on movements the app never trains. Every target is that movement's Athlete band, set for your gender. Take the test in the app to see yours.

  • Pull-ups

Strict, from a full dead hang.

  • Women

    Push-ups

    Max reps in 2 minutes.

  • Hand-release push-ups

Max reps in 2 minutes. Chest to the floor, hands lift off, then press.

  • Superman push-ups

    Max reps in one set.

  • Men

    Dumbbell bench press

    5-rep max, weight per dumbbell.

  • Deadlift

5-rep max, scored as a multiple of your body weight.

  • Single-leg squats

    Full depth, per leg.

  • 100 m sprint

    Standing start, timed.

Gym and bodyweight

Any movement, scored against the outside world

Push-ups to pull-ups, bench to deadlift, jumps, agility, and runs from 40 yards to 10 km. Each movement comes with its protocol and is scored against published strength and fitness standards for your gender — not the app's levels. Loaded lifts are a 5-rep max, scored as a multiple of your body weight.

Log one now, then again later to see the gap close.

In the app

Pick your test

Every test shows its body map, its muscles and its targets before you start.

  • Men

    NFL Combine

The six Combine events, in the official order — from the 40-yard dash to the 3-cone drill.

  • Women and men

    Army Fitness Test

Deadlift, hand-release push-ups, plank and the two-mile run, on the Army's own scales.

  • On Logic Workout exercises

The Logic Standard & The Logic Athlete

Clear every target at the Strong level. Then chase Athlete-level numbers.

  • One per activity

    Sport tests

Tennis, surfing, skiing, fencing, running, football and more: the key moves from each activity's preparation workouts.

  • In the Recovery tab

    Reduced Mobility Test

Recovery movements for limited mobility, so progress shows from the first step.

How it works

Test. Train the gap. Retest.

Tests and workouts share the same levels, L1 to L5, so a result tells you where to train.

  1. Take the test

Log each attempt with a counter, a timer or the weight on the bar — on Logic Workout exercises, with the level's video. Add how hard it was and what made you stop.

  2. See where you stand

Each movement lands on the ladder and your body map colours in, muscle by muscle.

  3. Train the gap

From any gym or track movement, train it in Logic Workout: focus on one muscle it leans on, or take one preparation workout for all of it.

  4. Retest

Take the test again whenever you want. The Evolution chart shows the gap closing.

Common questions

What do Injury Risk, Healthy, Strong, Athlete and Legend mean?

They are the five bands every movement is scored on. Injury Risk is short of the first target. Healthy is the first target. Strong is solidly trained — the bar the Logic Standard sets. Athlete is the top published target. Legend is clearly past it. Each band is set separately for men and women.

What is the Logic Carryover?

Logic Workout's own claim, as a test: the gym and track numbers we set as the goal after 12 months of Logic Workout at two hours a week, on movements the app never trains — pull-ups, push-ups, the deadlift, single-leg squats, a 100 m sprint. Every target is that movement's Athlete band, scored separately for men and women.

Are the strength tests free?

The tests are part of Logic Workout Premium, which is free for 14 days.

What do I need to take a test?

The Logic Standard, the Logic Athlete and the sport tests use Logic Workout exercises, done on the Logic ball. Gym and track tests need what the movement needs — a bar, dumbbells, a pull-up bar, three cones, a tape measure or a stopwatch. Many need nothing at all.
